Ultra V vs HIFU: Which One can Better Give You a V-Shaped Face?

As every girl wishes to get a smaller and V-shaped face without pain, most of them opt for non-invasive treatments without injection such as Ultra V and HIFU. Yet, do you know the principles of these two treatments and their differences? Which is better for you, Ultra V or HIFU?

HIFU

The traditional HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) treatment utilises focused ultrasound that produces heat energy up to 60-70°C to penetrate deep into the dermis and SMAS (Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System). This can stimulate collagens to form mesh-like structures, hence tightening loose muscles.

Advantages:

  • The energy can reach the 4.5mm-deep SMAS and dermis, achieving a visible lifting effect.

  • Utilises the technique of linear shot with a relatively large applicator to emit energy in parallel patterns. A single applicator can already emit a large amount of energy, which is particularly fast and effective for wider skin area.

Disadvantages:

  • As the high-intensity energy can reach 4.5mm deep under the skin, if the therapist mismanages the device, it can injure vital tissues such as blood vessels, nerves, fascia, and even the eyeball.

  • High-intensity energy will cause much pain.

Ultra V

Similarly, Ultra V employs ultrasound energy to penetrate the epidermis and reach deep into the collagen layer and SMAS. This treatment can slim your face, tighten your skin and refine the jawline. Yet, since a smaller applicator is in place for Ultra V adopting techniques of swirling pattern, it is fit for targeting your precise spot. Ultra V uses a similar amount of energy but causes less pain, therefore is considered a gentle version of HIFU.

Advantages:

  • Targets every inch of the skin from all angles. Effective in refining contours, reducing double chin, and even lifting small areas around the eyes.

  • Vortex technology emits energy dot by dot, only causing a lukewarm sensation in small contact areas. The energy amount is also adjustable, which can largely lower the level of pain.

  • Compared with HIFU, Ultra V can better improve skin texture and refine facial contour. It can also enhance skin tone and plump the skin. Apart from the face-lifting effect, it also tackles problems of roughness, fine lines and large pores.

  • Utilises milder energy that is less likely to cause accidents, therefore is safer than HIFU.

Disadvantage:

  • Women with thicker skin may need more treatment sessions to get more significant results.
