DIY Nail Painting: 7 Techniques for Your Perfect Fingertips

Girls value their nails because a pair of pretty, delicate hands could be a showcase of their own style. This is why girls enjoy DIY nail art at home! However, it is inevitable that the nail polish will be painted out of line or smudged sometimes. Today, we share 7 tips to make your nail polish more than perfect and keep your classy nails long-lasting.

1/Base coat - Start your perfect nail painting with a good foundation

Is the nail polish always uneven every time I apply it? The reason for this is most likely that you have not built a good base. The base coat is the same as the make-up base. The natural oils on the nails prevent the nail polish from adhering to the nail. So you should first clean your nails with a nail wash, wipe away any oil or dirt and then apply a base coat, which helps to smooth and dry the nail surface so that nails can be painted with less effort.

2/Keep your nail polish in the right amount

Many girls want to get their nails done quickly for convenience or to make the colour stand out, so they use to apply excess nail polish. This not only makes it difficult to dry, but also causes uneven nail colour. It is recommended to scrape off the excess amount of nail polish at the top of the bottle each time you dip it in, otherwise, it will easily spill out of the nail surface when applying nail polish. Apply a light coat and wait until the nail is 80% dry before applying a second coat. It helps nail colour to dry quickly and makes your manicure last longer.

3/Avoid contact with hot water just after applying nail polish

If you want your nail colour to last, wait at least 6 hours after applying nail polish before touching hot water, otherwise, the heat will cause the polish to lift off the nail. If you are washing dishes or hair, it is best to use warm water or simply wear gloves.

4/Apply nail polish to fingertips first

Some people apply the polish from the base of the nail to the tip of the finger in one stroke. It's quick but less likely to shed colour. You should apply a light layer to your fingertips first, as this has a "edge-wrapping" effect. Then lightly apply nail polish to the middle of the nail, pushing towards the crescent at the edge of the nail and then vertically towards the tip of the finger. Then apply to both sides of the nail in the same way. This method produces perfectly shaped nail polish with a more even finish.

5/Apply Vaseline to the surface of the nail edge

When applying nail polish, there are always times when you accidentally paint over the edge of the nail, so apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly to the surface of the edge. It will be easy to wipe off even when out of bounds and no fear of nail polish seeping into finger crevices. You can also prepare cotton swabs to wipe away any stains immediately after your manicure.

6/Blow-drying and cold treatment

It's really a pity to unexpectedly scratch your beautiful nail art when you have spent time painting your hands with nail polish! You can try drying your nail polish with a hair dryer when it is about 80% dry, or prepare a bowl of cold water with a few ice cubes and dip your fingers into the cold water for 2 to 3 minutes.

7/Glossy nail polish

If you want the colour to last longer, make sure to apply glossy nail polish at the end of all the steps. It creates a protective layer on the nail surface that not only protects the nail from scratches, but also allows the nail polish to last longer and adds a shiny glossy or understated matte finish to the colour.
