Chronic Fatigue Could be Cancer’s Warning Sign: Find out the Cause and Treat It

Hong Kong is the world’s most overworked city in which people always experience fatigue from work. If you often wake up feeling tired after a good night's sleep on holiday, you may be suffering from chronic fatigue.

When the body experiences chronic fatigue, it is a warning sign that you need more rest. However, if you get enough sleep, balanced nutrition and regular exercise, but still lack the mental and physical strength to sustain your daily activities, concentrate or maintain a normal level of motivation, it is high time to figure out if there is an underlying health problem.

People who are chronically tired have the following symptoms:

● Muscle soreness

● Apathy and lack of motivation

● Daytime sleepiness

● Difficulty concentrating or learning new things

● Gastrointestinal problems such as bloating, abdominal pain, constipation or diarrhoea

● Headaches

● Irritability or moodiness

● Slowed reaction time

● Problems with vision, such as blurred vision

If you have any of these symptoms, you are likely to be chronically tired and might be showing signs of cancer, most likely lung cancer, liver cancer and blood cancer.

These 3 cancers are most closely related to the body's metabolic functions, such as protein synthesis, lipid synthesis or regulation of cholesterol metabolism. The body is prone to fatigue if it is in a state of intense inflammation. If you have any of these symptoms, such as weight loss, unstable blood sugar, muscle wasting, lethargy, anorexia or anaemia, you should be checked as soon as possible. This is because when cancer cells grow rapidly and compete with normal cells for nutrients, the body becomes abnormally weak.

If you suspect that you have cancer, seek help from your doctor as soon as possible and undergo a comprehensive physical and imaging examination to confirm your health condition at an early stage.
