Congratulations to Dr. Chu Chun Pu Eric, David Chapman-Smith Award Winner

Dr. Chu Chun Pu Eric, the Chief Business Officer of EC Healthcare, has been the David Chapman-Smith Award* Winner, at the 17th Biennial Congress of the World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC)^. He is the first Chinese Hong Kong doctor to receive this award, and the third individual in Asia to be honoured in such way. This achievement has brought immense pride to the EC Healthcare and the healthcare community in Hong Kong.

Dr. Chu’s outstanding contributions were highly praised by the President of the World Federation of Chiropractic, John Maltby. He hailed Dr. Chu as an exemplary leader in the field of chiropractic medicine and recognized his remarkable achievements in science, industry, and professional development.

Dr. Chu has held multiple roles, including chiropractor, scholar, association president, and entrepreneur, all brought transformative impacts and contributions to the chiropractic industry. He has not only promoted spinal health in China and Hong Kong but also actively advanced the professional development of chiropractic science internationally. As the author, he has published over 90 case reports, laying the foundation for the future of chiropractic neurology in both Eastern and Western practices.

In addition to his contributions in promoting spinal health, Dr. Chu has received numerous awards for his initiatives in enhancing spinal health among children in Hong Kong. He has also garnered respect in the field of education. The Hong Kong Chiropractic Neurology College, founded by Dr. Chu, has received support from the governments of Chinese Hong Kong and the United Kingdom, providing high-quality Chinese and Western education and training for the next generation of chiropractic neurologists.

Dr. Chu’s dedication to the chiropractic science industry is evident in his numerous awards and honours, which have significantly improved the accessibility and recognition of spinal neurotherapy. His influence in global chiropractic science is vast and enduring.

^The World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC) represents national association members from over 90 countries across seven regions worldwide. As a non-governmental organization in relation to the World Health Organization, the WFC is committed to supporting public health initiatives and promoting spinal health and well-being. The 17th World Federation of Chiropractic Congress was held in the Gold Coast, Australia.

*The WFC Council established the “David Chapman-Smith Award” in 1991, which is similar to a “lifetime achievement award”. It is the highest honour the WFC can bestow and aims to recognize outstanding contributions to the international development and recognition of the chiropractic profession. At the 13th Biennial Congress of the World Federation of Chiropractic held in Athens, Greece, in 2015, the WFC decided to rename the “WFC Honorary Award” to the “David Chapman-Smith Award.” So far, only 33 individuals have been honoured with this prestigious award by the World Federation of Chiropractic.
